How should Christians relate to the culture? How has the Christian church historically related to the society in which it finds itself? Does Jesus teach us to oppose culture – affirm culture – avoid culture or some combination?

Overview: Join us for 4-weeks where we will answer all your questions related to hot-button topics in the world today — well, maybe that is a bit ambitious for four weeks. The class examines the Bible’s instruction on how we should relate to the world by studying the doctrines of creation, sin, and redemption. Additionally, the class will explore the ways the church has historically navigated issues of Christ and Culture (to use the term coined in H. Richard Niebuhr’s famous book). We will also reverse the question by asking how modern culture responds to the church, and what we should do about it.
