The word faith has many uses – for instance, we can talk about having faith or the Christian faith. More importantly, the word is a locus of a lot of confusion. As a pastor, I routinely find people who do not understand it. Many have faith in faith, not faith in God. Given that we are “saved by faith,” “the just shall live by faith,” and that, “without faith it is impossible to please God,” it seems like we need a definition. That will be our task over the next few days.

Today – as we turn to Hebrews 11 – I argue that faith is NOT believing things you know are not true.

BTW, let me remind you, church is not a product to evaluate; it is a community to participate in.
