WHY YOU ARE WILLING TO SERVE AS AN ELDER?
I felt God’s calling to serve the Church in some manner, and I am humbled and honored to have been nominated. I feel it is a way to give back for all the blessings that my family and I have received from Christ Church, serve the members of the church, and, hopefully, become closer to God.
HOW YOU WOULD DESCRIBE THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY OF AN ELDER?
I believe the scriptural description of elders to be “overseers” and “shepherds” of the church, but also, as members of the church, the elder also has the unique position of being a part of the flock. The role and responsibility, therefore, includes empathy, sympathy, and caring for the church congregation. Although technically a leadership position, the position of the elder is one of servitude the God and the Church.
WHAT AREAS, IF ANY, YOU WOULD LIKE TO PERSONALLY BE INVOLVED IN AS AN ELDER?
Whatever the Lord wills.
