In 2 Chronicles we read about the reign of Hezekiah — a 7th Century BC king of Israel who leads the nation back to God. His father – who had been king before him — had been evil and had led the Jews in the wrong direction. Hezekiah turned things around. He wiped out the idols and instituted sweeping reforms. If you study Hezekiah, you see how he foreshadowed David (and Christ) — and you see how he provides a model of repentance. I am referencing Hezekiah here as we begin a yearlong focus on renewal. I do so to call us to kick this year off with a prayer of repentance. I invite you to join with me.
