Our Story

Who We Are

We began as a gathering of 17 people in a home in Lake Forest, in 1980. Nine years later, we moved into our Lake Forest campus. In 2011, we partnered with the former Evangelical Church of Highland Park to create a second campus. Then in 2014, we partnered with Crossroads Church of Grayslake to add our third campus, Christ Church Crossroads.  And we’re still growing. Still committed to giving glory to God, loving people, studying the Bible and serving our communities.

What We Do

After his death and resurrection, Jesus commanded his followers to continue the work he started. Both Matthew (Mt. 28:18-20) and Luke (Acts 1:8) record parts of this conversation. Between what they state and other passages commenting on the church we are given a clear statement of our assignment. We are expected to:

1.Tell everyone about Jesus – who He is, what He did, what He taught and what He offers.
2.Follow his example by loving and serving others, especially the poor and oppressed.

Christ Church was founded to carry out these two mandates, and we continue to embrace them today. To be more specific:

Our mission is to lead people into life-changing relationships with God and others by Proclaiming the Good News and Engaging in Good Works.

Our vision is to Touch and Transform the Ten Miles Around our Steeple with the Love of God.
